Christmas Night

Hi all!  I hope you all had a Merry Christmas!  Here are a few pictures from our Christmas dinner.  You can tell there were lots of small children because we couldn't get one single picture where everyone was sitting down at the same time.  And we couldn't settle on a meat for the main course that everyone was happy with so we decided to do lobsters for a change.  TH made a homemade cheesecake for dessert!  It was delicious!  Some very lucky girl got a new camera for Christmas and had an absolute ball taking pictures by candlelight!

Vermont Commerce

I just dropped off my last holiday order of the year!  (I'd just like to take a little moment to say Hooray for that, first of all!  It looks like I'll actually get to spend 4 days before Christmas this year NOT working for the 1st time in about 10 years.)
The customer wasn't home so he asked me to just leave the package for him in his barn on top of his snowmobile, and he'll mail me a check.  Gotta love doing business in the country.  Oh, and I've never met this person before in my life either, he's a friend of a friend.  Priceless.

We're leaving for California tomorrow for 10 days, so I'll be blogging only sporadically during that time.   Merry Christmas everybody!  I hope you all have a happy and joy filled holiday!

Friday is the Last Day for Mail Order!

Hi Everyone!  Tomorrow is the last day to order anything from rebeccahaas.com or from FIddleheads For Fiona before the Holidays!  I'm headed out to visit family early early on Monday, so if you have your eye on anything, don't delay!

Here's a little peek at this years packaging!

Studio Pictures

Hi All!  I did a major studio cleaning and rearranging to get ready for last weekend's holiday studio sale.  Here are some photos of the finished product.  In these photos it is set up for the sale, not for working.  The table against the wall is usually more in the middle of the room, and usually also has no tablecloth.  Once I put everything back into a work arrangement I'll snap some more pics.  But here's how it looks now!  I think it is so cozy that I've left it this way for the rest of the holiday season and I'll put it back after Christmas.
My studio is actually 2 small adjoining rooms. one I use for the cleaner things like necklace stringing and assembly, and the other is for the dirty and dusty things, like soldering and sanding and drilling.

I am actually lucky enough to have a second studio upstairs where I make all my paper goods, but for the purpose of having everything together for the sale I brought all of the finished pieces downstairs to hang.  It's nice to have all the cheery colors and animals, I think I'll leave them up.

I'm afraid there's just nothing pretty about my soldering table, but it is a very necessary part of my work space, so here it is, for better or for worse.

Studio Tour Sneak Peek - Shipping Department

So I have finished one small corner of my studio re-organization - my shipping department!  It's a big step up from the shambles of my old shipping departments in their various previous locations.  Back when I lived in Brooklyn my shipping materials were relegated to one half of the drawer under our TV in our apartment.  During that incarnation of my "shipping department" I received a memo from Fred Segal in Los Angeles stating their shipping protocol, and instructing me to post the memo in my shipping department.  TH and I had a good chuckle over that one, and since then my "shipping department" has been a bit of a running joke.

It's so great to have a designated wrapping and boxing area that doesn't have to compete for space with the rest of my work surfaces.  Oh, shipping department, you've come a long way baby!

Lunch Break

Just taking a quick break from a much needed day of studio cleanup!  I'm having so much fun getting organized and decorating for my Holiday Studio Sale this Sunday!  There's nothing like inviting people over to get one to clean up one's act!

Chicken tacos are one of my regular go-to quick lunches.  It's just meat from a rotisserie chicken, lightly fried up corn tortillas, fresh avocado, and home made tomatillo salsa (although store-bought salsa verde works too!).

Once I finish with my major cleaning and organizing extravaganza I'll finally be able to post a studio tour, so stay tuned for that in the next couple of days!

But for now. . . tacos.

Last Holiday Wholesale Order Out!

I am taking a moment to enjoy a nice big happy sigh as my last wholesale holiday order of the year is out the door, winging its way to Cog & Pearl in Brooklyn, NY.   Cog & Pearl is an absolutely fantastic store with lots of unique housewares and gifts all carefully hand selected by the owners (husband and wife team Seth and Kristin), and carefully handcrafted by independent designers.  Here's a small sampling of the pieces that I just sent their way.

I love the simple geometrics and the cool winter colors that they selected for their store.  If you are ever in Park Slope, Brooklyn, I highly recommend stopping in there.  You won't regret it, but your credit card might!

Dear Hancock Launch!

My friends Wendy and Earnest are the husband and wife team behind this lovely and whimsical new greeting card and stationary design studio.  I am so excited for them that they have finally launched the Dear Hancock website!  They bring both of their fine arts backgrounds to the table as they translate and reshape them into the art of correspondence and the handwritten letter.  Click on any of the images below to link directly to their site!

Congratulations Wendy and Earnest!

Just Shipped - Custom Book Jewelry Box

I just shipped out this custom jewelry box made from a hardback copy of one of the Harry Potter books.  The customer sent me this book specifically to make for her niece to keep all her treasures hidden in plain sight in her college dorm room.  What better hiding place than a book for a dorm room!?  Here are some pictures of the finished product.  I'm happy with how it came out!

I've still got time to take a few more orders for Christmas presents.  If you are interested in ordering one please check out this listing on FIddleheads For Fiona for details.
