Arrived - Skinny LaMinx Table Runner!

I was so excited when this runner from Skinny Laminx arrived in the mail the morning I left for the Gift Show!  I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I did snap a few quick pictures.  Isn't it pretty?

Baked Eggs with Ham and Mushrooms

I'm putting this post up early in the hopes of catching people before breakfast!
I've been experimenting with baked eggs ever since Jennifer from Odette New York made some for us the last time she came to stay.  I made this yummy version of the fun and versatile egg dish for myself the other day, and it was an easy and delicious change from the everyday breakfast.  And it is easy to make for a group, or for just yourself!
So here's how you do it.
Preheat your oven to 400. (I used my toaster oven to be more efficient, since I was making only one) The dice up a mushroom and a little ham if you have it, and saute it in a little butter until it is cooked, about 3 minutes.  Put your sauteed ingredients in the bottom of a small ramekin or other oven proof dish. Crack an egg into the ramekin, making sure the yolk doesn't break.  Top with a drizzle of cream and some grated parmesan.  Pop it in the oven and bake for about 10 minutes, or until the white is set.  (warning, these are very easy to overcook!  The last part of the cooking goes really fast once the egg get's close to done, so keep an eye on it!)   Serve with a few buttered toast points for dipping.

Rings

I've been making more rings recently, and it's been fun.  I've always shied away from having a lot of rings in my wholesale line because of the sizing issue, which can be tricky.  But I'm going to go for it this time, and am including five different styles in my line at New York Gift.  Another thing I love about rings is how well they photograph.  I think it must have something to do with the natural depth and dimensionality of the structure.  Here's a preview of the rings headed for NYIGF!

Check out this photo TH took of the full moon the other night, complete with spooky old tree.  Pretty cool, right?

New Work - Cool Geometric Silver and Warm Gold

Here are a few pictures of what I've been working on recently.  I'm loving cool geometric silver pieces coupled with the warmth of gold chain.

Wild Turkeys

This is a wild turkey.  Two, actually.  We have a lot of them.
This is how they get through deep snow.  They make trenches and go single file.  Poor guys!  God knows why their little scaly feet don't freeze off!
Now you know.

Souffle!

I've been working on my cheese souffle for a little while and I finally made one last night that I was very pleased with!  I used a slightly modified version of Alice Waters' recipe from her book The Art of Simple Food, which is a fantastic book, by the way.
Here are some pictures of our dinner last night with our friends Garet and Carolyn, who brought a delicious selection of local cheese and (not so local) fruit for dessert.

Still Lives

I walked around my childhood home this morning with my camera, and found myself intrigued by the little groupings of items that have accumulated over the years.

Mmmmmm Cookies

Cassie from Clementine Blog and Shop Clementine on Etsy came for dinner last night all the way from Massachusetts, and we had such a good time.  Thanks for coming Cassie!  It is always so nice to have visitors up here in the freezing freezing, especially in dark dreary old January.  Along with two kinds of freshly baked bread she brought these delicious cookies, I'm telling you, they were a revelation.  They were like mini-cakes with lemon butter creme frosting.  Yum!  And for the chocolate averse, like yours truly, they were the perfect dessert.  Try not to drool on your computer.

Snow Day

Ok, so not exactly, because we both worked.  But it was still very snowy, and we didn't leave the hill, which was nice.
